  • UPSIDE – Stiftelsen Elektronikcentrum i Kista (Kista Science City)
    the major ICT companies to have established a presence in Kista Science City There are also over a thousand other ICT companies of all sizes along with some 6 800 students currently studying ICT courses at Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology The Electrum Foundation was founded in 1986 by the City of Stockholm and Ericsson in partnership with the Royal Institute of Technology KTH and Stockholm University to pursue strategies that ensure continued growth in science and the creation of an attractive environment for the growth of ICT industries The Electrum Foundation is a living example of a healthy collaboration between research academia the City of Stockholm and the business community i e a triple helix structure The Electrum Foundation is active in issues concerning higher ICT education global growth and innovation and its board includes the City of Stockholm s mayor representatives from Stockholm Business Region Ericsson Swedish ICT Research IBM the Royal Institute of Technology KTH and Stockholm University The Electrum Foundation develops dynamic business environments education and scientific environments at the forefront of international research and urban environments with attractive and efficient infrastructures jobs services trade culture and leisure Kista Science City is the operative entity creating alliances maintaining processes and networks initiating support projects that join together business university research and public sector players and facilitating contact with STING the regional business incubator In addition Kista actors are currently opening the Stockholm Science Innovation School Kista in close collaboration with KTH and Stockholm University with a defined challenge calling for intelligent transport solutions Contribution to the project Kista Science City will contribute to the project by making an ITS test bed available to the partners Kista Science City s experience in both regional national and European ICT activities will support the project Kista

    The institute offers expertise in interaction design visualization user behavior sound design games and entertainment They develop new research areas concepts products and services and provide strategic advice to corporations and public organizations The results are developed in close collaboration with industry and society exhibited worldwide and brought out to society through commissioned work license agreements and spin off companies Interactive Institute Swedish ICT initially founded in 1998 is part of Swedish ICT a group of research institutes in the forefront of ICT research and development Swedish ICT is owned by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden the Swedish government s holding company for ownership of research and technology organizations and Swedish industry Interactive Institute Swedish ICT has about 60 employees in eight research units spread out nationally The headquarters is in Stockholm Kista where the research group that coordinates the institute s UPSIDE participation is situated Interactive Institute Swedish ICT is a non profit distributing organization Contribution to the project The Interactive Institute Swedish ICT will contribute to the project with its expertise experience and knowledge in participatory design research such as participatory design and in the area of participatory innovation The institute s main work in the project is

    the second largest city of Estonia Tartu is also the centre of Southern Estonia Region Tartu City Government is operating under political leadership of a Mayor and 4 deputy Mayors and has an administrative structure consisting of 10 departments and it is currently employing approximately 300 officials City of Tartu has wide experience in developing ICT solutions particularly in the area of eGovernment and innovative public services utilizing ICT as well as mobile solutions Since 1999 city has implemented eTartu programme to provide internet based communication tools for citizens and the city administration The city launched in 2002 an innovative mTartu programme to integrate mobile applications with the public services Next to the local government duties fixed by law Tartu has continuously developed its e services and paperless administration Thanks to the national mandatory ID card system of Estonia today most of the documentation in city government is confirmed and archived only digitally Contribution to the project Tartu City Government will support the development of a pilot test bed in the Tartu area and act as a stake holder of such a test bed Tartu City Government will also contribute to the definition of a region digital agenda building on
