  • Welcome to the NoMaD Repository-NoMaD
organize and share materials data NoMaD copes with the increasing demand and requirement of storing scientific data and making them available for longer periods Rules of good scientific practice set by many funding agencies worldwide require keeping scientific data for 10 years NoMaD offers this for free NoMaD also facilitates research groups to share and exchange their results inside a single group or between two or more and to recall what was actually done some years ago The NoMaD Repository enables the confirmatory analysis of materials data their reuse and repurposing Have a look at youtube to see our movies on the concept and a basic tutorial Upload of data is possible without any barrier Results are accepted in their raw format as produced by the underlying code The only condition is that the list of authors is provided and code and code version can be retrieved from the uploaded files These data can be restricted to the owner or made available to other people selected by the owner They can be updated and downloaded at any time At present the repository contains ab initio electronic structure data from density functional theory and methods beyond At a later stage it

  • Why sharing?-NoMaD
results are stored on PCs workstations or local computers Most of these data are not used or often even thrown away though the information content is significant We may change our scientific culture and there are many reasons for doing so Open access of data implies that data can be used by anyone not just by the experts who develop or run advanced codes If data were openly available many more people would work with the data e g computer scientists applied mathematicians analytic condensed matter scientists and more We will be surprised what people will do with data probably using tools that the present computational materials community does not even know Many systems are being calculated again and again For example one material may have been investigated in a certain context but may be also useful for another application Thus if all the data were available much of the same work could be avoided Finally since most of our computations are paid by taxpayer s money it should be a duty to publish all the results Bringing the data from different groups together we all will profit Most important it will lead to novel insights Our work will be

  • Digital Object Identifiers-NoMaD
Object Identifiers To make your data citable we offer you to request a digital object identifier DOI It can e g be used to point to your data in a publication DOIs can only be provided for datasets not for single entries For this purpose a dataset containing this entry must be created before Obviously a DOI can only be provided for open access data To receive a DOI login
