    of the QoS in mobile environments effectively We have implemented some mechanisms for the management of the Context and Location awareness of mobility and of the user s change of device The creation of this middleware and its integration with the current multimedia clients and servers has raised the need to manage the data streaming at a lower level In particular we have created a Virtual Server integrated in the middleware The Virtual Server manages the communications between the client and the server effectively by using the RTP and RSTP protocols The Virtual Server works between the clients and the servers and allows to solve the issues regarding the instability of connections and the change of client and server during the streaming Such issues are not supported by the current software Nowadays servers and clients need to restart from the set up phase when the timeout has expired They do not allow to send the streaming from the point it was timed out Furthermore switching from a device to another or moving from the server where the streaming is being done is not allowed We have developed a solution to solve these issues which are essential in the management of the services provided by the middleware http dipmat unime it schede puliafito html Innovative aspects and specific features The key point of the system are High quality of the service and easy access to information by means of mobile devices end users easily receive information of high quality regardless of where they are located Recently wireless technology has become mature enough to satisfy the users needs for mobility and information anywhere and at any time Mobile Computing is diffusing very quickly and efforts are be done to allow mobile users to access advanced services such as multimedia streaming The agent

    Mobile Solutions Region Worldwide Short description A Italian company Notangle has developed PocketPM a mobile application to support police and traffic enforcement officers in their outdoor activities In particular the new system will significantly reduce errors associated with hand written tickets and according to some estimates realize millions in unpaid fines owed the city Notangle operating specifically for the development of Mobile Solutions has developed a successful application to record data and pictures related to the external activity of a public officer street policemen etc and to manage the information flow and processing to a central station In particular the most successful application is Pocket PM a mobile application to issue traffic fines With this new system police and traffic enforcement officers may collect simply and quickly the data about the vehicle the assessed violations and other information Moreover a picture associated with the fine can be taken by using a digital camera bundled with the PDA as further proof of the violation A traffic summons will then be printed on the spot by a portable printer connected via IrDA or Bluetooth Periodically the PDA is synchronised with the base station server PocketPM Server where the fines are elaborated PocketPM was developed for Microsoft mobile OS and DBMS The application has been succesfully adopted by the local governments of medium size Italian cities The same technology can be readily transposed to similar application fields or generalised to catch a wider demand or different conditions in the same application field in other European countries The company is looking for partners interested in exploiting such applicative solutions and characterised either by a deep technological know how or by a solid knowledge in a new application field Innovative aspects and specific features PocketPM is characterised by a smart joint usage of available PDA
