  • ABOUT THE PROJECT | From active citizenship to EuroCitizenship
    to encourage citizens of towns participating in the Project to contribute to creation of a more interactive Europe to develop the EU citizenship through exchange of experience and cultural diversity A specific goal is to build networks among current and potential Project participants Target groups are non profit organizations municipal organizations working with youth or seniors local governments and the local community at large To meet the goals of the Project we will help the target groups to get to know active people and their activities in the partner towns to facilitate the exchange of experience in the area of public matters and of active ageing to learn more about how their local governements support these activities At the same time the target group of ca 130 people will learn about EU policies which they conduct about how to get involved into the debate about these policies and will participate in group discussions together with a member of EU Parliament Project activities are needs assessments in partner towns mapping civic engagement and opinions on EU and its policies workshops and group discussions in two partner towns in October 2013 Maribor Slovenia in February 2014 Přerov Czech rep in June 2014

    steps in the Project implementation The debate of young and elderly people and representatives of local governments who are taking a part in the Project will continue at the Conference in Bardejov and Krynica on 18 20 June 2014 The Conference will deal with topics such as opinions on the EU policies articulation of expectations from EU and proposals and information input for EU authorities directed at improvements of the quality of life for youth and the elderly The aforementioned proposals and comments from the Conference participants will be presented to the European Committee Also proposals and comments of the Project participants concerning the living conditions of youth and the elderly will be processed and presented to relevant local governments Main Project activities the two workshops and Conference will at the same time serve as a platform for an experience exchange in the field of active citizenship of youth and the elderly in the sister towns It is expected that this will help to launch bi lateral and multi lateral partnerships of participating organizations Members of these partnerships will draft action plans of their future collaborations Furthermore the Project will produce a joint web site www activecitizenship eu a CD

    schools in smaller town Montemarciano Business incubator for young beginners in Business Amata Problems to find a job Krynica There are plenty of free time opportunities for youth in town sport clubs and different clubs of interest To improve cultural conditions and an accession for young Montemarciano To improve communication between youth and council Youth generally don t know the ways how they may influence the local public life Bardejov Leaving young people to the capital of bigger cities where are better job and career s opportunities Přerov Leaving people with high qualification brains to abroad Přerov High of young people who are threaten by long term unemployment Přerov Increasing young people who live as underclass Přerov 2 Young people as active participants on the local public life Youth council Youth commission Municipality Youth s participation on the project evaluation in the Municipality grant programs Slovenia Youth parliament in Maribor good example of communication between municipality and young people Depends on each youngster s will if they want to get involved into local politics Politicians can inspire young people to become politicians as well If young people had force to change something they would have been more interested in politics

    higher quality of life including the senior s life there in region lack of EU grant programs to foster active ageing to make more simply ways to submit and administer projects for seniors seniors living in rural areas have more obstacles to take part in cultural and artistic performances in towns Maribor one of the biggest problems are the too low pensions a lot of seniors are don t able to pay for services in senior houses Lugoj in Romania live more pensioners about 5 5 mil than active people about 4 5 mil urgent challenge to increase economics in the country employment is the most important for increasing of the living standard of inhabitants including seniors for increasing the economics is needed to create a good business environment in the country Moderator the municipalities shouldn t just wait for central state governments to create all conditions for doing good business in our countries the creation of a good business environment in our towns should be the top priority of each local self government as well using their govern tools as the local taxes rents close communication with local businessmen consistent implementation of their strategic economic and social plans etc

    Europe and its stability and we co create its future Herein we declare our preparedness to continue to actively participate in the local public life in our communities to engage our fellow citizens and organizations To meet our purposes plans and goals and the active citizenship could develop into Eurocitizenship we cannot do without closer communication and collaboration of local non profits charitable organizations with local and regional governments We take this opportunity to approach local governments in our regions and our regional governments and to ask for their assistance and collaboration in the process of improving lives in our communities with involvement of active citizens local charities and non profit organizations and schools This is the reason we address the local governments to a make their parliament members and staff familiar with the European Charter on Youth Participation in the local and regional life and make it accessible on their web sites b make it possible to take a part in decision making processes of local governments for active youth from non profit organizations local or school parliaments etc such as committees or advisory boards of local town halls c initiate and support headmasters of elementary and high schools to lead their students to learn about operations of local governments and decision making processes on the local level using a variety of engaging and experience based methods d support informal and formal education of children and youth directed at strengthening and application of EU values in day to day lives private as well as public e create a good business environment in their towns using their govern tools as the local taxes rents close communication with local businessmen consistent implementation of their strategic economic and social plans etc f Create conditions for the healthy life style for their citizens
